- Information - This postcard, shows the church & churchyard of St. Matthew’s; the postcard wasn’t used but dates to around 1910. The sarcophagus which you can see, on the right side, is that belonging to John Beighton who was born Aug 6th 1814 & died 10th Dec 1856 and also the resting place of his wife Dorothy Beighton, born 3rd Nov 1812 & died 22nd Oct 1894. The two upright headstones, nearest to the sarcophagus, belong to Sarah Beighton whose grave is the one nearest to path; she was the wife of John, and died aged 74 on 30th Aug 1867. The grave next to Sarah’s, belongs to George Beighton who died aged 73, on 8th Dec 1858.
- This Postcard it is identical image to another postcard in our collection ... however the above postcard is black & white, whereas the other one is colour tinted.
