  • Information - This is a very early photograph of St. Matthews Church & the churchyard; presumably the man holding a spade, is either the grave digger or he’s the verger tending to the churchyard lawns. The photograph is dated to sometime after 1894, as an inscription is evident on the sarcophagus for Dorothy Beighton ... and she died in October 1894.
