- Information - This photograph was submitted by Linda Hyland who is descended from the DANNAH family; more specifically Samuel & Hannah DANNAH - who are named on the above stained glass memorial window.
- The inscription reads ‘To the Glory of God. This window is erected in memory of Samuel DANNAH, Hannah DANNAH, Sarah BERREY and her ancestors who worshipped in this church. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord.’ ... and the window can be found on right-hand side of St. Matthew’s church (looking out over the graveyard).
- (Update April 2006) ... Initially Linda did not know how the DANNAH & BERREY families were connected but someone recently saw this page and provided Linda with related information. Linda now informs us... ‘Our Sarah DANNAH (born 1848) was the daughter of James DANNAH & Ellen MOORE; Sarah married Edmund BERREY in April 1897 at Ripley; hence became Sarah BERREY ... It appears that the stained glass window may well have been dedicated to Sarah DANNAH/BERREY; her brother Samuel and sister Hannah.’
- Although Linda now knows the family conection, she would still like to hear from anyone with DANNAH or BERREY ancestral connections or information regarding these two families who lived in the Pentrich & Ripley neighbourhood around late 1700’s & early 1800’s.
