In Derbyshire, thanks to the presence of the military and extra drafts of Police, no particular damage was done on Saturday, although threats had been made to attack certain collieries. One colliery manager was threatened that before the light of day he would be killed and his body thrown down the pit mouth if he did not at once recommend his employers to put the men to work again on their own terms. Extra Police are on duty in most of the colliery neighbourhoods and some of the military have moved southwards from Alfreton. Major GODFREY, the chief of Police for the county, has a large body of Police in readiness at the chief offices in Derby. An Angry mob collected around Mr. HASLAM’s pits at Pentrich on Saturday, but a company of Dublin fusiliers maintained order. At the Dimensdale pit, Tibshelf and South Normanton colliery, in consequence of the stopage of all work by the rioters, the water has risen to such a height that two months’ pumping will be required before the work can be resumed.’
