GAMEKEEPERS REGISTER 1789

Mike says “The earliest ‘Gamekeepers Register’, held at DRO begins in 1789. The last date is around 1819, depending on time period. Entry lists the name of the Gamekeeper, his abode, not always the place he "patrolled" and the Manor he actually covered. The date of issue of the Licence and the name of the person whose estate he worked on. Usually the Lord of the Manor.”

The following were extracted from original documents of the Butterley Company. They are apprentices papers giving names of the apprentice, now and again their ages, father or guardian, occassionally fathers occupation sometimes where from, and the year the apprenticeship started. Most of them served for seven years.
