Luke ABEL of Heage

7th June 1817, Saturday - The Nottingham Man “Jeremiah Brandreth” slept at his house. [Armon Booth]

William ADAMS of Ripley, Collier

10th June  Was seen with several others all assembled in arms about 8 o’clock Tuesday morning at Ripley & marched off after the rebels towards Nottingham. [D.W.Stafford] [John Alkin confession]

Tailor ALFRETON

On Monday night, 9th June about 10 o’clock he met with Isaac Cartledge in Swanwick & enticed him to join the insurgents & proceed to William Marriotts of the Wire Mill in South Wingfield. [Isaac Cartledge]

He headed a party at the reservoir head in Butterley with a pike & compelled people to join them at Butterley. [C.Walters]

He had a gun at Codnor… [W.Young]    

And was very active there & threatened to shoot a man for endeavoring to make his escape. [I.Wilkinson]    

He was very active at Codnor & beyond Eastwood, he presented his gun at a man who was making his escape & threatened to shoot the man if he did not stop, & actually struck the cock of his gun, but being wet it did not go off. [Thomas Jennings]    

He threatened to shoot Edward Robinson, who endeavored to make a get away from the mob beyond Eastwood, if he did not go back. [E.Robinson] [G.Buxton]

John ALKIN of Ripley

Assembled with several others at Ripley between 7 & 8 o’clock on Sunday morning 10th June, & marched after the rebels towards Nottingham. [T.Cresswell]

Thomas ALLEN of Heanor

The Heanor Hampden Club first held at his house, sign of Nags Head. [John Fletcher]

George ALTON of Ripley; Labourer

Thomas ALTON of Wingfield

Was at the murder on Monday night, at Mr. Hepworths. [Thomas Turners confession]

William ALTON of Ripley; Labourer

10th June - Assembled in arms with several others in Ripley, between 7 & 8 o’clock on Tuesday morning & said they were going to Nottingham. [Anthony Stanley] 

George ANTHONY of Ripley

He & William Smith were appointed by the General to be Captains of the Party from Ripley. [G.Burrows]    

June 10th 1817, Tuesday morning - passed through Codnor at 8.30 with the Ripley party armed with a gun. [Joseph Thorpe] [Joseph Alkin]

8th June 1817, Sunday - Was at the meeting at the White Horse in Pentrich. [A.Booth] 

William ANTHONY of Ripley

7th June 1817 - Went with William Smiths party from Ripley on Saturday morning. [G. Burrows]    

10th June 1817  Was seen in Ripley (Tuesday morning) with William Hardwick, George Burrows, John Wright & Josiah Godber. [S.Brown] [T.Cresswell] [S.Blount]

George ARGILL of Hartshay township of Ripley

10th June - Samuel Hunt, Manchester Turner & several other insurgents were at his house about 3 o’clock Tuesday morning, and demanded arms & his gun was delivered up to them & his servant Charles Walters (who had concealed himself in a large bacon chest in his masters cheese room) was compelled to go with the gang.  [Charles Walters]
