Beverley says - I am now trying to prove is that Hannah Walters (formerly Cresswell) was actually Hannah Hunt & the daughter of James Hunt and Ann Riley. Hannah lists James W/ (no last name) on her marriage licence. In the 1881 census, Joseph Cresswell is married to Sarah Ann and listed in the household, as a daughter, is Mary Ann Hunt. I am wondering, if anyone has also come across this information? If James Hunt was Hannah's real father, perhaps something happened and Joseph Cresswell adopted her when he married her mother. ??? Hannah was married on February 9th 1878 in Codnor and Loscoe in the Chapelry of Codnor. If anyone recognizes any of this, or has additional information about these families, I would be very interested to hear from you ... or anyone with connections to the Walters family.

Many Thanks to Beverley, who has supplied some further sources of interest. Useful for children & teachers (or others) who have an interest in the masses of Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire people who emigrated to the USA, to work in the mills.
