- Confined in His majesty’s Gaol for the COUNTY OF DERBY, Who have taken their Trials at the assizes, commenced July 26th 1817, before The Honourable sir JOHN BAYLEY, Knight, one of the Justices of our Lord the King, assigned to hold pleas before the King himself; and The Honourable Sir GEORGE SOWLEY HOLROYD, Knight, one of Justices of our Said Lord the King, of the same court.

- JOSEPH WASS, Aged 19. Admitted Evidence. Charged on the oath of William JACKSON, of Elmton in company with George WARD, with stealing one sheep, the property of the said William JACKSON. Committed 25th March 1817 by W. A. LORD Esq
- WILLIAM JONES, AGED 40. Twelve Months Imprisonment. Charged on the oath of William PEACE and Joseph BARRATT, with having on the 31st day of March last, between the hour of one and two of that day, feloniously broke and entered the dwelling house of the said William PEACE, situate at Stapenhill, no person being therein, and with having feloniously stolen, taken and carried away one pair of men’s shoes of the value of 5s. and a quantity of bread of the value of 6d. the property of the said William PEACE. Committed 1st April 1817, by A. N. MOSLEY, Esq.
- GEORGE WARD, aged 19, Acquitted. Charged on the oath of William JACKSON, with having on the 21st day of February last, at Elmton, feloniously stolen, taken and carried away out of a field, one sheep, the property of the said William JACKSON. Committed 5th April 1817, by W. A. LORD, Esq.
- JOHN WOOD, aged 51 and WILLIAM SMITH, aged 23. Guilty… Death. Charged on the oath of John ASTLES and others with having on the 14th May last, feloniously broke and entered the dwelling house of George ASTLES, situate at Hatton, in the day time, no person being therein, and with feloniously stealing, taking and carrying away from thence, two cotton gowns, one muslin shawl, one black stuffed petticoat, one silk handkerchief, two cotton handkerchiefs, one new pair of cotton cord breeches, one yard of white cotton, one and half yard of thread lace, two caps, one new flaxen sheet, one black sleeve, and half loaf of bread, the property of George ASTLES; one cotton shirt the property of George CHAPMAN; one blue spotted bed gown, the property of Ann ASTLES the younger; one cotton and flaxen shirt, two pair of worsted stockings, one brown woollen coat, and one pair of new shoes, the property of Thomas ASTLES, of the value of £6. Committed 15th May 1817, by A. N. MOSLEY, Esq
- JAMES MILLER aged 22. Guilty… Death. Charged on the oath of William TRUEMAN, with having on the night between the 7th and 8th days of May last, at the parish of Ilkeston, burglariously broke and entered the dwelling house of the said William TRUEMAN, and feloniously stolen, taken and carried away from thence one pair of fustian gaiters, one razor and razor case, cake of bread, and on pocket knife, the property of William TRUEMAN. Committed 16th May 1817, by Bache HEATHCOTE, Esq.
- THOMAS HOPKINSON aged 19. Admitted evidence. Charged with setting fire to some corn and hay, the property of Winfield HALTON Esq. Committed 18th April 1817 by Joshua JEBB, Esq.
- JOHN BROWN aged 38, THOS JACKSON aged 20 and GEORGE BOOTH aged 21. Guilty…Death. Charged on the oath of Colonel Winfield HALTON, with having on the night of the 9th, or early in the morning of the 10th February last, with divers other persons, willfully and feloniously set fire to, and burned certain hay and corn stacks standing at South Wingfield, the property of the said Colonel Winfield HALTON. Committed 6th June 1817, by W. A. LORD, Esq.
- JOHN KING aged 24. Guilty… Death. Charged with setting fire to some hay and corn on the 9th or early on the 10th of February last, the property of Winfield HALTON, Esq. Committed June 7th 1817 by W. A. LORD, Esq
- JOHN WAIN aged 30 and SAMUEL WAIN aged 37. Guilty… Death. Charged on the oath of Hannah FOXLOW, with having on Saturday night of the 12th, or early on Sunday morning the 13th of July instant, burglariously broken open the house and premises of the said Hannah FOXLOW, at Winster and stolen thereout some silver, a quantity of copper, one bonnet and other articles, her property. Committee 18th July 1817, by Charles HURT and Philip GELL, Esqrs.
- JOHN SHEPHARD aged 26, Acquitted. Charged on the oath of Charles HALLAM of Winshill, farmer, with having feloniously stolen one duck of the value of 1s and 6d. from the premise of Thomas HALLAM, of Winshill aforesaid, his property. Committed 18th July 1817 by A. N. MOSLEY, Esq.
- WILLIAM STAPLES, Guilty… Death. Charged with horse stealing, removed by Habeas Corpus from Nottingham
- WILLIAM LUDLAM aged 23, WILLIAM TURNER aged 46, MANCHESTER TURNER aged 19, ROBERT TURNER aged 17, ISAAC LUDLAM the elder aged 52. Charged with aiding, abetting and assisting in the willful murder of Robert WALTER, at South Wingfield. Committed 12th and 13th days of June 1817, by W. HALTON, Esq. And George GOSLING, Gentleman Coroner. Also stand charged with High Treason against His Majesty and detained under similar charge under a warrant from the Right Hon. Henry Viscount SIDMOUTH, one of the Lords of His Majesty’s Most Hon. Privy Council; and Principle Secretary of State, dated the 21st instant. Remain in Custody
- GEORGE BURROWS aged 44, THOMAS BETTISON aged 33, JOHN FLETCHER aged 32, JOSIAH GODBER aged 53, JOHN HILL aged 30, SAMUEL HUNT aged 22, ALEX JOHNSON aged 24, JOHN McKESSWICK aged 37, SAMUEL LUDLAM aged 32, JOHN MOORE aged 49, THOMAS TURNER aged 22, EDWARD TURNER aged 31, JOSEPH THORPE aged 30, JOSEPH WHITEMAN aged 15, WILLIAM WHITEMAN age 27, THOMAS WHITEMAN aged 18, JAMES WHITEMAN aged 18, GEORGE WHITEMAN aged 25. Committed by Bache HEATHCOTE and Winfield HALTON, Esqrs. On the 19th of July instant, on charges of High Treason against his Majesty, and detained upon similar charge under a warrant from the Right Hon. Henry Viscount SIDMOUTH, one of the Lords of His Majesty’s Most Hon. Privy Council; and Principle Secretary of State, dated the 21st instant. Remain in Custody.

- George RICHARDS, Thomas REDFEARN, James GARDENER, James WILLIAMSON, George JERRAM, William JOHNSON, George FIELDING, and Thomas WORSLEY, convicted at the Lent assizes of grand larceny, remain under sentence of imprisonment, the six former 12 months each, and the two latter 6 months each.
