1673 map - Shows area around Pentrich

In earlier times, Pentrich was more often known as Pentridge or Pentridg. You can see ‘Pentridg’ in the centre of the above 1673 map; the area is enclosed with a fence & trees indicate it was a woodland area ... and the River Amber can be seen running through the middle of the fenced area. ‘Wingfield Manor’ & Wingfield Park can also been seen North Westerly of Pentridg & that area also seems to have once been a fenced woodland. Additionally, to the right of Pentridg you can see a larger fenced area; that belonging to Butterley Park & Codnor Castle.
